Ropes

Hammer has a very simple way of implementing ropes, allowing you to control slack and width between two entities. Just follow these steps:

1.) Put a move_rope entity where you want the rope to start.

2.) At the point where you want the rope to end, place a keyframe_rope entity.

3.) Once you place your keyframe_rope entity, give it a name (left-click + ALT-ENTER).

4.) Go to your move_rope entity (left-click + ALT-ENTER) and in the "Next Keyframe" property box, input the name you gave your keyframe_rope entity.

5.) Set the "Slack" and "Width" properties to whatever seems fit. (Usually default is about 100 Slack and 1-2 Width).

Congratulations, you just made a rope. Now make more! :).

How would I attach a prop at the end?

They did it in DarkMessiah of might and magic. which is a source game. they made their chains climbable. but the single player map folder is empty. i cant decompile their map and see how they did it. and the multy player has no climbable ropes. just my luck. if anyone knows how to make a rope climbable in source please respond.

Mr.Blonde - You can put an invisibile ladder infront of the rope, that way it gives the illusion of climbing the rope, without the swaying.
